Importance of Rudraksha Mala in Spiritual Practice
Rudraksha means tears of Rudra (Lord Shiva). The ancient text says that out of compassion for the world, Lord Shiva shed the tears of love and these tears took the form of Rudraksha.
Rudraksha is a seed that is obtained from the fruit that grows on a tall and majestic Rudraksha tree. Rudraksha contains the essence of the five elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Sky in perfect balance. They have vibratory influences on the physical and subtle body.
When 108 beads of Rudraksha beads are looped into a necklace, it is called a mala. A mala also has one more additional bead at the top or its head, it is the 109th bead, it is called – the ‘guru bead’ or sumeru, which signals the completion of the 108 repetitions of the mantra.
The number of beads in a rudraksha mala or bracelet should be multiple of 108 beads. A rudraksha neck mala can have 108+1 beads or 54+1 beads and a rudraksha bracelet can have 27+1 beads or 18+1 beads or 12+1 beads. All these numbers are multiples of number 108, which is a complete number!
Rudraksha mala is a timeless jewel that aids a spiritual seeker in his spiritual endeavours. The rudraksha bracelet and mala are used for meditation and japa (mantra chanting). Performing spiritual practices using a Rudraksha Mala or bracelets or by simply wearing them with reverence and awareness, one is blessed with increased awareness, mindfulness, self-knowledge and compassion.
The rudraksha malas and bracelets available at our store are made from the panchmukhi (five faceted) rudraksha beads. The panchmukhi rudraksha mala or bracelet can be worn by all to experience calmness and serenity that strengthen vitality and well-being.
